When the high school football team is informed that the National Anthem will not be played, they sing it loudly.

Even if you are only keeping one eye on the current events taking place in the United States at the moment, you will be aware that the nation is in the midst of a political upheaval.

As a result of the racial tensions that have been brought to the surface this year following the unjust deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, amongst others, tensions are running high and demonstrations seem to be occurring every single day. The main factor driving this trend is the wrongful deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery.

Change is coming to practically every aspect of life in the United States as a result of the growing number of people who want to air their grievances and concerns.

The arena of sports has provided an obvious medium over the years for people to express their beliefs and ideals, not least of all due to the diversity that exists within the sports world.

By kneeling during the playing of the national anthem in 2016, Colin Kaepernick became famous for bringing attention to the struggles faced by African-Americans in the United States. He was subjected to a great deal of backlash for doing so, and as a direct result, he was finally fired from his position as an NFL player.

He has acquired greater support as a result of the events that have transpired this year; yet, the fact that he had to suffer for his conviction is not at all acceptable.

There is, without a doubt, a heated argument going on right now about the playing of the national anthem at sporting events and whether or not this ought to be the case. In recent years, many prominent people have been kneeling during the playing of the national anthem in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. However, some people view this as a sign of disrespect.

Personally, I believe that people should have the freedom to select anything they choose. After all, showing proper reverence for one’s country’s flag and national song is quite important to a number of people.

Granbury, Texas boasts at least one high school football team that believes they are the best. The Granbury Pirates were not pleased in the least that their high school band would not be able to perform prior to a game.

In point of fact, they were moved to the point where they chose to sing the national anthem a cappella collectively as a group. The group stood to their feet, put their palms together over their chests, and began singing the national song with a great deal of fervor and pride.

I can’t speak for you, but whenever I hear a performance like that, it fills me with a sense of immense pride.

Although I believe that everyone should have the right to choose whether or not they wish to sing and stand for the national anthem, I believe that we can all agree that the video that was just displayed is something absolutely remarkable.
