When an infant is admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), they are thrust into the most difficult and uphill battle of their lives.
As soon as they are brought into this world, they are immediately subjected to a barrage of treatments, including medication, isolation, and procedures, all in an effort to save their precarious lives. The fight goes on one day at a time, with the nurses of the NICU at the front lines. Renee, a well-liked nurse working at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, has personal experience in this area and can attest to its accuracy.
Kleenex and a group of grateful parents whose children would not be alive today if it weren’t for this kind nurse collaborated to show their appreciation for everything that she has done. They brought together a large number of them from different parts of the country in order to surprise Renee with a visit from some of her favorite people, specifically the infants whose beating hearts she had worked so hard to preserve.
