Gladys Kamande, who was 32 years old at the time, was driving her vehicle while connected to the tubes and breathing apparatus that help her stay alive. John was informed by Gladys that her lungs had collapsed, and as a result, she needed to rely on oxygen tanks to continue working.
At that very instant, young John was overcome with emotion and began to cry. He reached through the glass and held Gladys’ hand, and then, out of the goodness of his heart, he decided to give her all of the money he had been given that day.
After a bystander who was standing nearby had the pleasure of watching this scenario unfold, the Internet became fascinated by his emotional reaction and the wonderful sacrifice he made. The image and the tale quickly went viral across various social media platforms in the days that followed. It didn’t take long before the homeless youngster with a big heart and the woman who needed medical assistance began to receive money for their respective causes.
Gladys’s trip to India for treatment was made possible thanks to the donation of $80,000 by people who did not know her.
A kind woman named Nissy Wambugu came to John’s aid, took him into her family, and ensured that he was able to pursue his education by enrolling him in a local school.
