270 churches were destroyed or damaged in ∪kraine

In the seven months since ∪kraine was attacked by Russia on February 24, 270 churches were destroyed in 14 regions of the country have been destroyed or damaged.

These include Christian mosques, mosques, and synagogues, administrators of Ukrainian religious communities, and educational institutions.

Thousands have been killed and millions have been forced from their homes since Russia began its invasion of ∪kraine in late February, with many hoping the talks would end the escalating war.

Churches were destroyed

Russian and Ukrainian officers have accused each other of burning down a historic wooden church in Sviatohirsk Lavra, one of ∪kraine’s most famous Orthodox sites.

The all-wooden church in the village of Tetianivka is said to have been burnt down during the weekend’s shelling.

The huge 17th-century monastic settlement on the banks of the Siverskiy Donets has been attacked several times during the war and was attacked on Wednesday, killing two monks and a nun.

President Zelensky accused Russia of “systematically destroying and deliberately destroying Ukrainian culture and its historical heritage”. He said 113 churches were damaged or destroyed during the invasion, including some that survived World War II.
