When Applegate was given the opportunity to speak at the podium, she shared that she feels privileged to be receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “I’ve had a really interesting life, but it all started when I was a little girl and I was standing in line to watch the very first Star Wars movie on this very street and in that very theater. And staring at [the celebrities] while thinking things like, “Who are these people? What exactly are these items? What, if anything, did they get right? Have they committed a foul-up of some kind? I want one of whatever it is you’re offering. “I effing want one,” you can hear her saying. “At the time, I was just five years old, therefore this date holds more significance for me than you could possibly fathom.”

While expressing her gratitude to her family and friends for their unwavering support, the actress became emotional. She went on to clarify that she does not consider her group of acquaintances to be friends but rather family. “These individuals look out for my well-being. They look out for me each and every day of my life, and I have no idea what my life would be like if it weren’t for them.

Applegate’s eyes continued to well up with tears as she spoke about her daughter Sadie, who is 11 years old. “And finally, the most important person in the world is my daughter,” Applegate said. You are so much more than even you are aware of knowing about yourself. You are so lovely and sweet and loving and intelligent and interesting, and the fact that I get to wake up and take you to your school every day is a blessing that I count among my many blessings. You are the center of my universe. I want to say thank you for being there for me through everything that has happened.
