Richard Gere, 70, has experienced fatherhood once again.
Richard and his wife, Alejandra Silva, 35, brought a son into the world in February of last year.
Silva and Gere both had children from prior relationships, even though the newborn is their first child together.
This refers to Homer James Jigme, Gere’s 20-year-old son, whom he co-parents with Care Lowell, his ex-wife.
Following his performance in American Gigolo and his appearances in classic films like Pretty Woman and An Officer and a Gentleman, Richard Gere solidified his status as Hollywood’s leading man.
Richard soon after met Cindy Crawford, a model and actress, who would become his first wife. The couple allegedly met at a BBQ, according to media sources.
Crawford recalled, “We talked, then we went on a date, then we went on another date.
The duo quickly became one of Hollywood’s hottest, and paparazzi followed them everywhere they went.
Gere and Crawford dined at the top restaurants in New York and Los Angeles in addition to appearing on red carpets and front covers. However, Gere was unsure if he would wed his younger partner.
However, the pair made the decision to fly to Las Vegas and tie the knot in December 1991. Only a small number of guests were invited to the chapel, so it was by no means a lavish wedding.
The couple filed for divorce four years later. Cindy Crawford has often argued that the age gap was excessive.
When they first met, she was 22 and Richard was 39.
At 22, I believe I was more willing to say, “Okay, I’ll follow,” but as you get older, you realize, “Well, I don’t want to just follow — I want to lead and I want to walk side by side sometimes.”
After his failing marriage had lasted seven years, Gere eventually met actress and model Carey Lowell.
Gere had been reluctant to have kids while he was dating Crawford. Everything was unique when Carey Lowell was present.
It was really fairly easy. I’ve never had a problem with kids in any way. Caretaking for this youngster and having our own child came naturally because Carey had a child from a prior marriage. He claimed in 2002 that it was entirely spontaneous and appropriate.
When the Pretty Woman actor discussed how becoming a father might alter a guy, he said: “When you put it against the genuine things in your life, the trivial stuff just doesn’t impact you any more.” Every cliché about being a parent is accurate.
Due to the fact that his parents were well-known celebrities, Homer found himself in the spotlight at a young age.
There were a lot of rumors and cheap insults hurled about the divorce at times. Homer’s parents were fighting over who would get custody of him, which brought him back into the spotlight.
