Proud grandpa Michael Douglas shares the touching moment he met his newborn grandson for the first time

Proud grandpa Michael Douglas shares the touching moment he met his newborn grandson for the first time.

After about a month, the youngest and smallest member of the Douglas family finally met his proud grandfather, Michael Douglas. In December, the legendary actor announced the birth of son Cameron Douglas and newborn son Ryder. After a month of waiting, Michael Douglas finally got to meet Ryder and hold the bundle of joy.

Douglas greeted Cameron and his son’s longtime companion Vivian Tibbes with the arrival of Ryder in December 2020, confirming on Instagram that he had become a proud grandfather. After a bit of a delay, Douglas was eventually able to take Ryder into his arms and welcome him to his social media followers.

Although Douglas spent his teenage years establishing himself as a Hollywood heavyweight, much like his father Kirk Douglas, the actor admitted that as he grew up, he became a real family man. Previously, he struggled after his first granddaughter, Cameron’s first child, three-year-old Lua.

Douglas said: “I love Luann – she’s amazing. I guess you prefer being a grandfather when everyone’s gone and you’ve got empty nest syndrome, but I still have my daughter!”

Besides enjoying being a grandfather, the now 76-year-old actor appears to be a loving husband to his wife Catherine Zeta Jones and a devoted father to his three children. He had Cameron, 42, during his previous marriage to Diandra Luker, and Dylan, 20, and Carys, 17, after his relationship with Zeta-Jones began.

The Basic Instinct star previously stated that his profession was the most important thing in his life during his first marriage. He is well aware that he has made mistakes. There have been some setbacks… Now that his goals have changed, he usually advises individuals to delay childbearing in order to focus as much as possible on their careers.

The Oscar-winner was in his 50s when he started his family with Zeta-Jones, who was 25 years his junior, and never imagined becoming a parent again at that age. However, he fully committed himself to the character.

When his children were younger, the actor expressed his desire to be active in their lives. He likes to wake them up in the morning and get them ready for school. He makes them breakfast and they talk about their day. He is curious about who their friends are and can see the strength of their bond and the security they have. It is a great love, undeniable without reserve, and it is the greatest feeling in the world.

In the same 2010 interview, the devoted father also stated that he is not as motivated as he used to be; these days he was preoccupied with parenting and fulfilling his responsibilities as a husband. He never imagined having a family at his age. He is content to let Katerina work while he is at home with the children. He appreciates this moment.

In the interview, the family man also stated that his wife and family now take precedence over his work. He even asked if anyone could understand what it means to be completely happy? In the morning he wakes his children – these little pieces of innocence – and sees how delighted they are to see him. It is undeniable love.

Now that he’s a grandfather again, it’s hard to see him being anything other than a loving father to Lou and Ryder.
