The 94-year-old Oscar and Emmy-winning actress Cloris Leachman has passed away. Leaves a legacy of several memorable and controversial performances!
The oldest of three sisters, Leachman was born on April 30, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa. When Leachman was just 8 years old, she made her debut in a play for young audiences at Drake University.
At the age of 19, he entered the Actors Studio, where he studied acting with Eli Kazan, Marlon Brando and Julie Harris. Broadway and television followed.
She has appeared on popular television shows such as Malcolm in the Middle and The Marie Tyler Moore Show. Perry Mason, Gunsmoke and The Twilight Zone were among his previous acting credits.
At the age of 82, she also participated in Dancing With The Stars. Leachman has received 22 Emmy nominations, winning eight of them. It is clear why it was awarded by the Academy of Television!
Leachman’s career as a film actor was equally successful. She starred in films including Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Last Picture Show.
She played various funny roles in Mel Brooks films like Young Frankenstein and High Society. Leachman said, “I lived my life; I did not go near him”, in her autobiography, “Cloris. Wherever I saw a door of opportunity, I opened it.
I have encountered breakthroughs, dreams, failures and even deɑth. I feel deep satisfaction in knowing that I never succumbed to traditions I didn’t believe in and that I was afraid I didn’t follow the rules others had set.
